About Us
In 2017, I took a backpacking trip with my Search and Rescue probie class.
The trip was tough. We spent hours hiking off-trail, finding our way through brush, boulders, and cliffs. But at the peak of our exhaustion, my teammate turned around, a smile lit up across her face, and said something that will stick with me forever.
“Slow miles are the best miles.”
And at the top of a mountain pass, with the valley below awash in golden, Sierra light, I agreed. As we made our descent towards the gravel parking lot, each of us walked a little faster, fueled by the prospect of clean clothes and cold beers.
That trip is what inspired Slow Miles.
And that’s the feeling I want to capture with this project. Of making it to camp or back to your car after a long hike and swapping the sweaty performance shirt with 5 days of grime and stink for a clean, crisp tee or cozy hoodie.
